July 19    Last day with the girls in Alaska. It was a lazy day.  packing to get ready to go home.  Tony and Ginny took a last ride to Nancy Lake State Park, north of wasilla during the day. Pat and I just relaxed, and went out for lunch.  early in the evening with all bags packed full, we loaded the car and drove to Anchorage for dinner.   after dinner we arrived at the airport, parked the car and escorted the girls to check bags, and then security.  see you next week Pat and Ginny.  they boarded their flight to seattle on time at 12:20 am.  arrived in seattle on time and then made the trip from seattle to new york.  all were on time or early.   they made it home on July 20 safe and sound but exhausted.

July 20 - we got up at 630, loaded the bikes. first task was to return the rental car.  that being done we were on the road and began the long trek headed home at 830am.  we covered 600 miles today, made it to canada, and continued to Haines Junction.  the roads in Canada were terrible. it seems they tore up about 20 miles of roadway since we passed this way headed up to alaska a week ago.  the condition of the road was the worst we encountered.  some deep gravel, some mud, and lots of crushed concrete and rocks making riding extremely difficult. i thought the bike was going to break from all the bumps, lumps, holes.  definitely not a ride for beginners.too extreme and dangerous.

after a week of beautiful weather in Alaska, in the 70's and 80's,  today we needed heated jackets as the temp were between 50 and 60, in heavy cloud overcast.  we said goodbye to alaska, and went through customs in Canada.  one of the prettiest parts of the ride in Kluane Park and destruction Bay was not impressive due to cloud cover and lack of color.

during the 600 mile trek today we saw no wildlife. disappointing since we saw 8 grizzlies on this stretch when we went up to alaska last week.

finishing the day in the yukon, we plan to make British Columbia tomorrow.

PS  Sorry i havent p.s.ed in a while but frank had the computer in his room with pat and i wasnt allowed to ps. but now my kidneys are doing great and i will catch you all up on the ps's tomorrow as i am exhausted from an extended visit from my sweetie. really sad to be left here with frank and no virginia. i would put a sad face here but frank wont let me use emojis.
